Christina Ann Parks-Kirkland was born November 14, 1968, at Olathe, Kansas. She was the daughter of Ronald and Lynn (Young) Parks. A lifelong resident, Christina made her home in Rantoul, Franklin County, Kansas, until her death Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at the age of thirty-five years. She attended Central Heights School with the class of 1987. She worked as a store clerk for Texaco in Gardner and manager for Burger King in Lawrence. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Olathe. Christina had a heart of gold, a very giving person, who never put herself before others. Her home was always open to family and friends. She loved to cook and bake. She loved football, in fact, anything, to do with kids, she enjoyed. She also had lots of fun 'pestering' her dad. On October 21, 1982, Christina was united in marriage with Johnny Kirkland at Rantoul, Kansas. They later divorced. Christina is survived by her parents of Rantoul; two sons, Michael Ray Kirkland, and his companion, Erica Hess, of the home, Johnnie Ray Kirkland of the home; three sisters, Terry Lynn Hoke of Ottawa, Jeana Marie Ledom of Rantoul, Melinda Sue Parks of Rantoul; grandparents, Maurice and Irene Parks of Holden, Missouri; and, grandmother, Imogene Brooks of Olathe. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Claude and Marie Young; grandfather, Bob Brooks; grandfather, Walter Young; and, grandson, Ashton Kirkland.
