Cheryl Jane Montgomery

Cheryl Jane Montgomery was born January 14, 1956, at Kansas City, Missouri. She was the daughter of Eleanor (Hobbs) Moyer. A long time resident, Cheryl made her home in Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, until her death Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at the age of forty-eight years. Cheryl attended Ottawa High School, later receiving her G.E.D. She also attended Neosho Community College in Ottawa, where she majored in child psychology. She was a lifelong homemaker. She was also a certified medical aid, currently employed at Village Manor Nursing Home in Ottawa. In the early 1990`s, she was employed at Wellsville Nursing Home, and from 1991 to 1992, she was employed at Ottawa Conoco. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling stories. She also enjoyed reading magazines and books and liked to watched comedy shows and commercials on T.V. Cheryl's greatest enjoyment, however, came from her family and grandchildren, all of whom she deeply loved. She also loved and appreciated her dear friends. Cheryl was united in marriage with Robert English. They later divorced. In 1987, she was united in marriage with James R. Montgomery, III, at Baldwin, Kansas. He survives of their home. She is also survived by her son, Roy English and his wife, Rhenda, of Independence, Kansas; four daughters, Jeri Lambert of Ottawa, Jennifer English and friend, Teresa Drake, of Kansas City, Kansas, Melissa English of Ottawa, Melanie Gosser and her husband, Richard, of Osage City; two stepchildren, Renea Montgomery and James Montgomery, both of Ottawa; several brothers and sisters; and thirteen grandchildren, Camille, Cameron, Caleb, and Cayden English; Alexi, Mexi, and Jessalyn Lambert; Hali, Rylan, and Annisty Messick; and Megan, Ryan, and Tyler Gosser. She is preceded in death by her mother. SERVICES: Graveside services will be held at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2004. OFFICIATING CLERGY: IN STATE: Mrs. Montgomery will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 p.m. Thursday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Thursday evening. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Franklin County Cancer Foundation, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
