Chellie Huber

Rachelle Dionne “Chellie” Huber, age 47, of Burlington, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at her home. A visitation will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary-Crematory, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS, 66071 from 10:30 am to noon on Saturday, June 5, 2021. Chellie was born Friday, July 20, 1973, in Excelsior Springs, MO, the daughter of Roger and Brenda (Alkire) Payne. Chellie was united in marriage to Brian Huber on June 3, 1995 in Paola. Survivors include her husband Brian of the home; two daughters Bryna Huber of Lawrence, KS and Brylee Huber of Burlington, KS; her mother Brenda Alkire of Paola; sister Lacy (Brian) Meredith of Paola, KS; brother Jeff (Amy) Payne of Seligman, MO; mother-in-law Janet Huber of Paola, KS. She was preceded in death by her father Roger Payne and father-in-law Steve Huber. She worked as an Occupational Therapist for 25 years. Anyone that had the blessing to know Chellie would describe her as kind, caring, and down-to-earth. Her big heart could most easily be observed by watching her with animals of any kind. She could never turn away a stray animal in need of a home, and she considered her toy poodle and dachshund as two more members of the family. Chellie had a passion for art since grade school, which she continued to pursue through scrapbooking and other projects in her art room. She also loved spending time outdoors, listening to live music, and, most of all, spending time with her family. While her family is relieved that she is no longer in pain, there will always be a hole in their hearts that can never be filled.
