Charlotte Godfrey, 88, of Richmond, Kansas, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Richmond Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, Kansas. Charlotte was born November 13, 1933, in Jingo, Kansas, the daughter of Charlie Calvin and Harriett Elizabeth (Belcher) Duncan. She was a longtime Franklin County resident since 1960 moving from Louisburg, Kansas. Charlotte graduated from Louisburg High School with the class of 1951. She was united in marriage to Donald T. Godfrey February 17, 1952, in Louisburg. He preceded her in death on February 26, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother Calvin Duncan. Survivors include her children, Dean Godfrey (Marcy) of Emporia and Darlene Springer of Richmond; grandchildren, Kristi Mendoza, James Godfrey (Kelly) both of Emporia, Justin Springer of Richmond; great grandchildren, Avery Mendoza, Ember Mendoza, Riley Prior, Kolin Godfrey, Konner Godfrey and Quinn Godfrey. Charlotte worked as a clerk at the Franklin County District Court for several years retiring in 1999. She was a member of the Ottawa Business and Professional Women’s club, attended Richmond United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Louisburg United Methodist Church. Charlotte enjoyed spending time watching her grandchildren play sports and traveling throughout the United States drafting horse pull events with her husband.
