Charles Raymond Bowman, III, 81, of Pomona, Kansas, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015, at the Ottawa Retirement Village. Family will meet with friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Private family inurnment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, Kansas, at a later date. Charles was born April 5, 1933, in Williford, Arkansas, the son of Charles Raymond and Stella (Doss) Bowman, II. Charles has resided in Pomona since 1971, moving from Overland Park, Kansas. He graduated from Ava High School in Missouri, with the class of 1951. Charles was united in marriage with Shirley Ann Wigglesworth June 14, 1958, in Kansas City, Kansas. She survives of the home. Survivors also include his two children, Terri Bowman and husband, William Vulgamore of Wellsville, Kansas, Vicki Worthington and fiancé, David Shoemaker of Paola, Kansas; sister, Lorene Christin; and two grandchildren, Anthony Worthington and wife, Kara of Andover, Kansas and Stephanie Anderson and husband, Trevor of Lyndon. He was preceded in death by his parents. He worked for Western Electric of St. Louis in the Eastern Kansas division as a technician/central office installer for twenty-six years, retiring in 1977. Charles served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955, attaining the rank of Private First Class. He attended Pomona United Methodist Church.
