Charles G. Mills, Sr., age 69, of Osawatomie, Kansas, died November 5, 2012, at Pawnee County Hospital, Larned, Kansas. Charles was born March 10, 1943, at Kansas City, Missouri. He was the only son of five children born to Harry and Juanita (Collins) Mills. He grew up in Kansas City and attended school at Central Junior High. Charles and Frances Rodriguez were married November 9, 1963 at Kansas City, Kansas. They made their home in Kansas City and moved to Hillsdale, Paola, and then Osawatomie. They have made their home in Osawatomie for the past 19 years. Charles and Frances became the parents of four children; Anita, John, Charles, Jr., and Windy. Charles had worked as a nurse"s aide at the Spring Hill Manor nursing home. He also worked in upholstering at Johnson"s Upholstery in Kansas City, Kansas. Charles loved fishing. Two of his favorite fishing spots were the Marias Des Cygne River in Osawatomie and John Redman Dam in Burlington, Kansas. He also enjoyed building derby cars for his sons. He specialized in revamping cop cars keeping the sirens intact. His derby car drivers were known as the "Old Man"s Derby Team." He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Margie Stepp. He is survived by his wife Frances (Rodriguez) Mills of the home; four children Anita Bentzinger of Sedalia, Missouri, John Michael "Mike" Mills, Charles Mills, Jr., and Windy Anderson all of Osawatomie; three sisters Betty Colston and Margaret McHenry both of Kansas City, Kansas and Mary Reene of Theodesha, Arkansas; 18 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
