Charles "Charlie" McNeal

Charles F. McNeal, 95, of Hillsdale, Kansas left his earthly home on February 7, 2025, at the Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas with his wife Janet by his side. Charlie was born on September 17, 1929, to parents Alfred and Nora McNeal in Syracuse, Missouri.

Charlie, as he preferred to be called, served his country by enlisting in the US Army at the age of 18. His service included being stationed in Germany during the Korean War. After the war, he married Barbara who preceded him in death in 1995. He then married Janet Jobe, on November 16, 1996, in Paola, Kansas.

Charlie worked in the gas station industry, as an owner, district manager and in sales. His last 20 years of working Charlie could be found behind the counter at Rands in Hillsdale, from which he retired.

Charlie enjoyed spending time in the garden and watching sports. He also enjoyed mowing, of which many neighbors were the beneficiary of his kindness.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and a sister. Charlie is survived by his wife of 28 years, Janet and a sister, Sue Oswald of Otterville, Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charlie was a member of the Hillsdale Presbyterian Church. The family will greet visitors at the Hillsdale Presbyterian Church on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by a graveside service at 11:15 am at the Hillsdale Cemetery. Rev. Laurie Johnson will perform graveside services at the Hillsdale Cemetery following the visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the church.
