Charles "Chuck" Lewis McDonald, age 79, of Louisburg, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Olathe Medical Center.

Chuck was born on August 1, 1945, in Kansas City, Kansas. He was the oldest of four children to William and Mildred (Sanders) McDonald. He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, and attended Turner High School.

Chuck's professional journey spanned over three decades, during which he became a respected figure in the transportation industry. He worked as a truck driver for Jack Cooper Transport for 30 years, earning multiple safe drivers awards in recognition of his commitment to safety and professionalism. He later took on the role of a semi-truck driver for Ron Weers Construction before retiring. His pride in his work was evident, and he often spoke fondly of his accomplishments, including being a Grand National Truck Driving Rodeo Winner, having won his class several times.

Chuck spent many years living in the Kansas City, Kansas area, prior to moving to Louisburg in 2002. He was united in marriage to Betty Nelson, on September 27, 2003, in Louisburg, Kansas.

Chuck was a member of the American Legion Post 250, National Rifle Association (NRA), and served as an honorary member of the American Legion Honor Guard.

He was known for his funny, ornery disposition and his quick wit, always ready with a joke or a story to share. Chuck had a natural talent for storytelling and was a beloved friend to many; he truly never knew a stranger. Outside of work, he found joy in fishing, deer hunting, and spending time outdoors, often accompanied by a cold beer in hand. Chuck also enjoyed playing the bass, his favorite genres being country and classic rock.

He is predeceased by his parents, William and Mildred McDonald, a sister, Linda (Walt) Berry, and step-son, Kent Miller.

Chuck was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty McDonald, children: Charles Jr. (Lesa) McDonald, William McDonald, Daniel (Donnetta) McDonald, Jodi (Jeff) King, and Brandi (Becky Brown) McDonald. He was also a proud stepfather to Tammi (Robert) Null, Tonguie (Roger) Bandel, and Kevin (Vicki) Miller, 26 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Ann McDonald and Teresa Gage, as well as many extended family members and close friends.
