Charles Franklin Cox, 79, of Eudora, Kansas passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. Military honors by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Dengel Son Mortuary. Charles was born on Wednesday, September 19, 1934 in LaCygne, Kansas, the son of Byron Arthur and Mable Mae (Crisler) Cox. He lived in Eudora since 1975 moving from Lawrence. On February 18, 1957 Charles was united in marriage with Rosella Hubbard in Garnett, Kansas. She preceded him in death on June 26, 1999. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leroy Cox; and sister, Eleanor Barnes. Survivors include his daughter, Jane Fergus and husband Fred of Lawrence; two grandchildren, Savannah and Franklin Fergus both of Lawrence; brother, Lavern Cox and wife Dorothy of LaCygne; sister, Irene Rice of Medicine Lodge, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews. Charles worked for the Lawrence Paper Company, as a machine operator, for thirty years retiring in the early 1990’s. Charles served in the United States Army, from 1953 to 1956, where he obtained the rank of Private 1st Class.
