Charles Edward Wells, age 83, of Louisburg, KS, passed away on October 29, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Monday, November 2, at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, 5 S. 8th St., Louisburg, KS 66053, with burial to follow at the Louisburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 am, Monday, November 2, at the Lutheran church. Charles was born on September 22, 1926, in Louisburg to Mark and Mary Jo "Molly" Thomas Wells. After serving in the South Pacific in WWII, he returned home and was united in marriage to Nadine Courtney on November 2, 1946. To this union, one son, Larry Wells, was born. Charles started the Wells Disposal Service, now L & K Trash Services. He also worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline for 38 years until he retired. When his eyesight began to fail, he always enjoyed his friends stopping by for a visit, keeping his yard mowed, and growing his tomatoes. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his faithful little friend, "Tuffy" who passed away on September 15, 2009. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Nadine Wells of the home; son, Larry Wells of Phoenix, AZ; grandson, Chuck Wells of CA; three great-grandchildren, David, Siena, and Gabi Wells; sisters, Dorothy Waite of Louisburg and Mary Miller of NC; and lots of friends and good neighbors.
