Charles Christopher Van Wie, age 86, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2024. He was a lifelong resident of Rantoul, Kansas.
Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Ruhamah Cemetery, Rantoul, Kansas.
Charles was born May 25, 1938, to Ernest and Veronica Van Wie of Richmond, Kansas. He attended school in Richmond, Kansas. He left school in the 8th grade to work on the family farm. He worked multiple jobs throughout his life. Willard Nursery for 11 years. Hubbard Lumber for 5 years. Ottawa Truck for 33 years and Central Heights for 13 years.
Charles was united in marriage to Alice Evans on October 24,1964 in Richmond, Kansas. Charles and Alice were married 54 years at the time of her passing in 2018.
Charles had a great sense of humor and never knew a stranger. He devoted his life to being a hard worker and being a great provider for his family. He loved to watch westerns and game shows on television. He also enjoyed tinkering around in his garage. Charles will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; parents Ernest and Veronica Van Wie; sons Robert and Earl Van Wie; sister Betty Pyle; and grandson Brandon Taylor.
Charles is survived by his daughter Lorena Taylor (husband Jack); daughter-in-laws Luz Van Wie and Giovanna Van Wie; grandchildren Jaydyn Van Wie, Arienne Van Wie, Brittany Taylor, and Christopher Taylor. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
