Cecelia Harkins (Harkins) Day, age 87, of Princeton, Kan., died Friday, December 20, 2002, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kan. . She was born April, 7, 1915. She was the daughter of the late William Harkins and the late Cecelia (Hazlett) Harkins. She lived in the Johnson County area most of her life, living in Princeton, Kansas for the last five years. Cecelia graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School with the class of 1933. She was a homemaker and a nurses aid at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in the 1950's and 1960's, followed by many years of factory work in the Kansas City area. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ottawa. On September 7, 1945, Cecelia was united in marriage with Claude Day at Leavenworth, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 3, 1973. Cecila is survived by her: Son-Roy Day of Princeton, Kan., Son-Claude Day, Jr. of Princeton, Kan., Sister-Janie Smith of Wellsville, Kan., Sister-Aggie Wood of Colorado, Sister-Mary Bly of Manhattan, Kan., Twenty-four Grandchildren, Four Great Grandchildren, Three Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in Death by her:Husband-Claude Day, Son-Ernest Jack Day, Son-William Louis Day, Mother-Cecelia (Hazlett) Harkins, Father-William Harkins, Sister-Esther Christianson, Brother-Charles Harkins, Brother-James Harkins Brother-Dennis Harkins, Brother-Michael Harkins, Brother-John Harkins,Brother-William Harkins. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 11a.m., Thursday, December, 26, 2002. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Fr. Steven Beseau IN STATE: Cecelia will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5 p.m. Sunday to 5p.m. Tuesday. A Rosary will be said 10 a.m. Thursday followed by a family visitation until the service hour. CEMETERY: Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Franklin County Cancer Foundation c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
