Cecel N. Landess, age 97 of Ottawa, Kansas, died Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Ottawa. She was born on Saturday, July 10, 1915 in Lane, Kansas she was the daughter of John Ezra Hay and Missouri (Hollinger) Hay. Cecel was a resident of Franklin County for over sixty years. Cecel attended Clark Valley School east of Lane in Miami County, Kansas. Cecel was a homemaker and worked as an Avon representative for thirty-seven years. Cecel attended the Quaker Church with her family until the age of seventeen, and was a member of the Ruhamah Baptist Church in Rantoul, Kansas On June 4, 1932 Cecel was united in marriage with Claude F. Landess at Paola, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2001. She is survived by her: Son, Richard Landess and his wife Patty of Rantoul, KS Daughter, Rosetta Weller and her husband Gene of Wichita, KS Daughter, Ramona Taylor, Ottawa, KS Eight Grandchildren: Lavonne Sharp, Rocky Weller, Susan Wellshear, Timothy Weller, Stephen Lungar, Denny Landess, Ronda Newton, Gera Sue Coats. Fifteen Great-Grandchildren Four Great-Great-Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her: Husband, Claude F. Landess Parents, John Ezra and Missouri (Hollinger) Hay Brothers: Raymond Hay, Charley Hay and Challous Hay. Sisters: Lura Crowl, Edith Eastwood, Thelma Stockard, Eleanor Kitchen,Odessa Edwards and Cora Hay. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2012. IN STATE: Mrs. Landess will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday to the service hour where the family will meet with friends 7-8 Tuesday evening.
