Cathy (Slawson-Burk) Ferwalt

Catherine Lee Ferwalt, 70, of Paola, Kansas, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022, at her home. Cathy was born Tuesday, August 14, 1951, in Johnson County, KS, the daughter of Leland and Jesse (York) Slawson. She graduated from Louisburg High School in 1969. Cathy was united in marriage to Ronald Burk on October 2, 1972. They made their home in Stilwell and then Bucyrus. They became the parents of two children. Ron passed away March 17, 2003. Bernard Ferwalt and Cathy were married in 2014. He preceded her in death in 2018. She and Ron owned and operated Quality Oil gas station in Stilwell from the 70s to mid 80s. Cathy had a greenhouse at her home, "Cathy's Greenhouse" for a number of years. She worked at Daisy Corporation in Gardner for several years. Her last employment was with Stouse, a screen printing company out of Gardner. She retired from there in 2012. Her hobbies included fishing and singing karaoke. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband Ron. Survivors include son Ronnie (DeeAnna) Burk of Osawatomie; daughter Kimberly Menke of Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas; brother David (Companion Lee Johnson) Slawson; three sisters Linda (Larry) Cutshaw of Louisburg, Sharon Mowry of Missouri, and Carolyn Tucker of Arizona; six grandchildren Griffin, Skylar, Arlie, and Emmeline Burk, and AJ and Colby Myer.
