Cathey was born Thursday, September 8, 1949, in Paola, Kansas. She was the daughter of Truyn and Marguerite (Canfield) Bischoff. Cathey was raised in Homewood, Kansas, and lived briefly in Plainview, Texas, then Ottawa, Kansas, before moving to Pomona with her husband and son in 1987, where she made her home until her death on Thursday, March 8, 2007, at the age of 57. Cathey graduated from Williamsburg High School with the class of 1967. She worked for H.D. Lee in Ottawa, Kansas until 1976, when she moved with her future husband to Plainview, where they worked at Levi Strauss until returning to Kansas in 1980, where she resumed working for Lee. Cathey received occupational education in business and administrative work through a business college in Lawrence, Kansas, graduating in 1989. Soon she began working for Black & Veatch (later purchased by Electronic Data Systems), where she was employed for over 16 years. Her current position was as a maintenance systems analyst. In January of 1980, Cathey was united in marriage with Will Alton Stambaugh, Jr. in Plainview, Texas. He survives of their home. Cathey is also survived by two brothers, Truyn Bischoff, Jr. and his wife, Linda, David Bischoff and his wife, Margaret, all of Williamsburg, Kansas; sister-in-law, Carolyn Bischoff, of Williamsburg; son, Michael Stambaugh, Lawrence, of her current marriage; three sons, Paul 'Linn' Boyke, Jr., Los Angeles, California, Ryan Boyke, Federal Way, Washington, and Chad Boyke, Ottawa, all of her previous marriage to Paul Boyke; daughter-in-law, Sherrei Boyke and grandson, Clay Allen Boyke, both of Ottawa; mother-in-law, Louise Sweatman, and Brandon Sweatman, both of Pomona; sister-in-law, Trina Sweatman; and Brianne Bartza of Lawrence. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Marvin Bischoff; and sister, Mary Brobisky. Cathey was always a strong, hard working, loving mother, wife and friend, with a special love for tigers. Though she left this world too early, she truly impacted the lives of everyone who knew her. This unique woman enjoyed the simple pleasures in life; love, family and humor. She was fun and had a big heart, but was not afraid to put someone in their place. She earned everything she got out of life and was always fun and supportive, pushing her loved ones to achieve their dreams. There are not enough words to describe the mark that she made, but the world will not be the same without her.
