Carolyn Sue Graffham

Carolyn Sue 'Mom' Graffham was born January 2, 1940, in Coffeyville, Kansas. She was the daughter of Kenneth and Maxine (Marshal) Warnock. Sue grew up in Coffeyville, moving to Idledale, Colorado, in 1970. In 1976, she moved to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, where she made her home until her death Sunday, December 21, 2003, at the age of sixty-three years. Sue attended Coffeyville schools and, later, earned her G.E.D. at Ottawa. Mrs. Graffham was a lifelong homemaker. From 1980 to 1983, she was employed as manager of Stop-N-Save Gas Station in Ottawa. In her early years, Sue loved roller skating. In 1953, she was the Tri-State roller skating champion. She was an outgoing, enthusiastic person, who greatly enjoyed her family and many friends. She was also an avid antique collector. On May 10, 1969, Sue was united in marriage with Jack Graffham at Singleton, Colorado. He survives of their home. She is also survived by her mother, Maxine Penner and her husband, Dale, of Sterling, Alaska; two sons, Randy Penner and his wife, Kathy, of Ottawa, Brad Penner and his wife, Janet, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two daughters, Brenda Upshaw and her husband, Kevin, of Spokane, Washington, Vicky Kingsolver and her husband, Jeff, of Ottawa; two sisters, Betty Giroski and her husband, Moose, of Houston, Texas, Sharon Holcomb and her husband, Mike, of St. Louis, Missouri; two brothers, Mike Penner and his wife, Denise, of Sterling, Alaska, Gary Penner and his wife, Shannon, of Sterling, Alaska; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father and infant daughter, Pamela Penner. SERVICES: Memorial services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2003. IN STATE: Mrs Graffham was cremated. The family will meet with friends following the memorial service. CEMETERY: Inurnment will be held at Ross Cemetery, Neodesha, Kansas at a later date. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Salvation Army c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
