Carolyn S. Thomas was born August 30, 1948, at Boonville, Missouri. She was the daughter of Lester Leo and Leona (Buehler) Thomas. She lived in Glasgow, Missouri; Forest City, Missouri; Mayville, North Dakota; and Haysville, Kansas, prior to moving to Pomona in 1967 and Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas in 1973, where she made her home, until her death Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at the age of fifty-five years. She was presently attending the Adult Education Center of Ottawa. She was a daycare provider for children and the elderly. She also worked at King Radio, was a maid for Hallmark Inn, laundry maid for Royal Manor, and retired from the cleaning department of Wal-Mart Distribution, all of Ottawa. She was a member of Mayville Baptist Church in North Dakota. She was also a member of M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). Carolyn was a devoted daughter and close friend to her mother. She took such good care of her. She also dearly loved her nieces and nephews. She felt as though they were her own and was continually playing with them. She loved flowers and enjoyed caring for her gardens in her younger days. She also enjoyed doing latch hook, going to casinos, and writing very interesting letters. She also liked to watch T.V., especially soap opera's, which she watched all day, every day. Carolyn is survived by her mother, Leona; brother, Robert Thomas and his wife, Deborah, of Butler, Missouri; two sisters, Mary Haworth of Tuscon, Arizona, Janet Payne and her husband, Bill, of Ottawa; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Lester and sister, Cathy Ann Thomas. SERVICES: Graveside services will be held at Highland Cemetery 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2004. OFFICIATING CLERGY: IN STATE: Ms. Thomas will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5:00 p.m. Friday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas.
