Carolyn Jane Meek, age 84, of Louisburg, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, Friday, April 5, 2024, at Louisburg First Baptist Church, 406 S Vine Street, Louisburg, Kansas 66053. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 am. Private inurnment will be held at the Louisburg Cemetery.
Carolyn was born on Saturday, March 2, 1940, in Antioch, California. She was one of four children to Mack Franklin and Pansy Pearl (Harris) Comstock. Carolyn and her family later moved to Fort Scott, Kansas, where she grew up and attended school.
She met her future husband, Don Meek, while attending Fort Scott High School. Carolyn graduated from Fort Scott High School with the class of 1958. She later attended Fort Scott Junior College where she received an associate’s degree. Carolyn and Don were married on Sunday, August 14, 1960, at Fort Scott First Baptist Church. From their union they had three children, Mark, Marilyn, and Mike. They were happily married for 63 years.
Carolyn and Don lived in Downs, Kansas for a few years after they were married, before moving to Louisburg in 1965. After just six months, they knew they had found the place they wanted to call home.
Carolyn was a stay at home mom when her children were growing up (Best mother in the world). She later drove the special education van from Louisburg to the Lakemary Center in Paola, Kansas, for five years. Eventually, she worked as a Para Professional at Louisburg Elementary School for many years, before retiring in 1998.
Carolyn was a woman of faith. She was an active member of the Louisburg First Baptist Church, where she was a member for over 50 years. Carolyn assisted Don with teaching Sunday School, spanning various age groups.
Her passions in life were her beloved husband Don, her family, traveling, and her faith. Carolyn was the standard of what matriarch should be. She was a loyal friend, faithful servant to God, and had a feisty personality. Carolyn was the rock of the family, and supported them no matter what. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren held a special place in her heart.
Carolyn is preceded in death by one son, Mark Meek; parents, Mack and Pansy Comstock; and brother, Jim Comstock.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Don Meek, of the home; two children, Marilyn (Jason) Mueller, of Paola, Kansas, and Mike Meek, of Kansas City, Missouri; six grandchildren, Briana (Trevor) Patton, Kaleb Mueller, Molly (David Belpedio) Meek, Conner Meek, Hanna Meek, and Carson Meek; seven great grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and close friends.
