Carolyn Lee Clevenger, 82, of Lawrence, Kansas, passed away on September 17, 2012 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born October 7, 1929, in Paola, Kansas, the daughter of Alfred C. and Mabel Wilson Nelson. After graduating from Paola High School, she married Donald E. Ogden on December 31, 1948; he passed away in 1958. She married Lee Clevenger, Sr., on November 11, 1958; he preceded her in death in 1989. She lived in Kansas City, Kansas, and then Greeley, Kansas, before moving to Lawrence. Carolyn was a homemaker who loved people and family gatherings. In her early years, she was a buyer for Jones Clothing Store, and later, she sold Fuller Brush and McNess products. She was active in the Greeley United Methodist Church where she played the piano and taught Sunday school and Bible School. She loved to sing, to play cards and Bingo. She was well known in the neighborhood for her kindness to stray cats and dogs, and had many pets of her own. Like her father, Alfred, she loved to garden, and she sold her produce to a local grocery. She was preceded in death by her parents, a step-mother, Ester Bruner Nelson, and two husbands. Survivors include her sister, Elizabeth Morgan, of Sedalia, Missouri, step-son, Lee Clevenger, Jr., of Lawrence, Kansas, grandson, Stephen Clevenger (Robin), of Lawrence, Kansas, granddaughter Vicki Taylor, (Glen), of Lawrence, Kansas, granddaughter Melody Powers, of Lawrence, Kansas, niece, Kathy Morgan Marshall (Alan), of Sedalia, Missouri, nephew, Tom Morgan (M.J.), of Manhattan, Kansas, and great nephew, Dan Marshall, of Columbia, Missouri. Carolyn was a beloved aunt and grandmother who will be much missed very much. Private graveside services will be at a later date in Paola Cemetery.
