Carolee Joyce Rutter

Carolee Joyce Rutter, 82, of Ottawa, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 27, 2018, in Colorado. Family will meet with friends from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the First Christian Church, Ottawa. Funeral services will immediately follow at 10:00 A.M. at the church. Interment Highland Cemetery. Carolee was born August 6, 1935, in Wellsville, Kansas, the daughter of Herbert and Darlyne (Ritter) Wright. She lived in various locations throughout her life including, Wellsville for 18 years, Ottawa for 2 years, Parsons for 3 years, Ottawa for 40+ years, and Wichita for 2 years. She graduated from Wellsville High School. Carolee was united in marriage to Jack Rutter September 2, 1956, in Wellsville. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry Wright; and sister, Joanne Scribner. Survivors include her two children, Charles Rutter of Pagosa Springs, CO and Jacki Gimino of Wichita; brother, James Wright and wife Barbara of Wellsville; and nine grandchildren. Carolee was employed as a clerk with AT&T, retiring after 43 years. After retirement, she worked at Agler & Gaeddert as a receptionist for 12 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Ottawa and DWF, Disciples Women’s Fellowship. Carolee volunteered with Meals on Wheels, enjoyed traveling to see family, and was a lifelong Royals and KU Jayhawks fan.
