Carole Sue Billingslea

Carole Sue Billingslea, known as Sue to her family and friends, of Olathe, Kansas passed away December 1, 2020, with the care of hospice in her home, surrounded by her family. Sue was born on January 23, 1945, in Pryor, Oklahoma to LaVerna and Omer, Sr. Nunley. She grew up in Locust Grove, Oklahoma with her five siblings. She graduated from Locust Grove High School in 1963 and married Ted Billingslea the same year. She was a loving mother to her 3 children: Sheri, Terren and Keri. Sue was a long time resident of Paola, Kansas with more recent residents in Overland Park and Olathe, Kansas. Sue was a long time employee of Miami County (Planning and Development and Treasurer’s Office) for 30 years before retiring in 2010. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Paola, Kansas. She is survived by her 2 daughters: Keri Searl of Olathe, Kansas and Sheri Cosner of Overland Park; 7 grandchildren: Erika Crotts and Madison Rohrer of Lenexa, Kansas; Peyton Searl of Olathe, Kansas; Austin Cosner of Shawnee, Kansas; Eli Cosner of Washington DC; Anna and Emma Cosner of Lawrence, Kansas; 1 great grandson: Maverick Crotts of Lenexa, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Michael Nunley; her son, Terren Billingslea and her grandson, Blake Rohrer. She enjoyed her grandchildren most of all, along with ice cream, Chiefs football and cooking in her kitchen. Family and friends are welcome for visitation from 1-3pm, Saturday at Dengel and Son Mortuary, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS, 66071. Graveside services will be held at 3:30pm, Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the Osawatomie Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Samaritan’s Purse and/or Wounded Warrior Project in her memory.
