Carol M. Mock

Carol Marie Mock, 78, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.

Cremation is planned with memorial services at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2022, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.

Carol was born June 5, 1944, in Buffalo, New York, the daughter of Robert S. and Nellie M. (Hopkins) Johnston.

She lived several years in Michigan City, Indiana before moving in 1978 to Ottawa.

She graduated from high school at the age of sixteen and continued her education at Rockford College, IBM Career Academy, and studied to become a Registered Dental Assistant.

On July 24, 1965, Carol was united in marriage to Joel Pacholke. They were later divorced but were blessed with two sons, Steven and Christopher.

On April 18, 1981, Carol married Thomas B. “Tom” Mock in Ottawa. They were happily married 41 years until he preceded her in death on December 14, 2021.

For many years Carol was employed as a Registered Dental Assistant working with Dr. Bell and Dr. Waldron in Ottawa. Following her dental career, she was employed as a clerical worker at Skyhook Corporation and Scott Construction, both of Ottawa.

For several years Carol was a full-time caregiver for her mother. She enjoyed traveling with Tom in their R.V. for many years and loved her pet dogs Max and Maggie.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother Larry Johnston.

Survivors include three sons, Steven M. Pacholke and wife Cynthia of Grain Valley, Missouri, Christopher Pacholke and significant other April Weems of Katy, Texas, and Steven B. Mock and wife Maureen of Metairie, Louisiana; sister-in-law Jaqueline Johnston of Machesney Park, Illinois; grandchildren, Lucas Roberts, Wyatt Pacholke, Cheyenne Pacholke, Autumn Parrish, and Hudson Mock; nephews, Todd Johnston, Scott Johnston and wife Tammy.
