Carol Joanne Wallis

Carol Joanne Wallis, age 76 of Ottawa, Kansas, died Sunday, February 17, 2013 at her home with her family by her side. She was born on Sunday, July 5, 1936, in Soldier, Kansas, the daughter of Lowell and Helen (Conner) McKinsey. Carol has lived in Ottawa since 1971 moving from Olathe, Kansas and had previously lived in Eldon, Missouri. She graduated from Soldier High School, Soldier, Kansas with the class of 1954 and nurses training at Bethany Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas in 1957. On March 12, 1958 Carol was united in marriage to Jerry Wallis in Olathe, Kansas. He survives of the home. Carol worked for Bethany Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas in 1957; Baptist Memorial Hospital in Pensacola, Florida in 1958 to 1960; health nurse for Miller County Health Department, Eldon, Missouri in 1964 to 1966; and in 1971 Carol delivered Meals on Wheels and helped with the fourth grade class at Eugene Field Elementary; she then went to work part time as a unit clerk at Ransom Memorial Hospital working part time/full time a total of twenty-one years before retiring. She is survived by her: Husband – Jerry Wallis of the home Daughter – Sherry Lewis and her husband Sonny of Ottawa, Kansas Son – Russell Wallis and his wife Susie of Ottawa, Kansas Son – Damon Wallis and his wife Jan of Ottawa, Kansas Grandchildren – Josh Myers and his wife Angela, Donny Lewis and his wife Callie, Morgan Wallis, Jessica Wallis and her fiancé Justin Blanco, Brady Wallis, Blake Wallis, McKenzie Wallis, Justin Watts and his wife Abbi, Jaime Ousley and her husband Jeremy, and Savannah Cantrell. Great Grandchildren – Gabriel and Griffin Myers and Maximus Blanco, Eli and Mia Ousley, Jackson, Kale and Halynn Watts Step sister – Bonnie Coverdale and her husband Roger of Holton, Kansas Step brother – Burton Tribble and his wife Beverly of Nortonville, Kansas Many - brother and sister-in-laws Many - nieces and nephews Special friend – Imogene Honn of Ottawa, Kansas She is preceded in death by her: Parents – Lowell and Helen McKinsey Step Father – Gaylord Tribble Brother – Gary McKinsey Brother – Larry McKinsey Son – Joel Morgan Grandson – Jordan Myers SERVICES: Funeral Services will be held at Ottawa Community Church, 824 W. 17th, Ottawa, 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 21, 2013, to the service hour where the family will meet with friends from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday.
