Carol Ayres, age 82, of Paola, Kansas passed into Jesus' hands in heaven on May 15, 2019 at Olathe Medical Center. She is survived by her husband Charles, Jr., of the home; sons Bryan (Kathy) of Bee Branch, AR, Brad of Osawatomie, and Bruce (Angie) of Osawatomie; three grandchildren Kyle, Megan, and Deven; one great grandchild Emerson; and two beloved nieces Carla Ewert and family of Parker and Glenda Stanley and family of Garnett. Carol was born in Osawatomie, Kansas on July 16, 1936. She spent an adventurous childhood living with her mother and grandparents in the caretaker house in John Brown Park. Carol had a sister and brother. Her brother Donnie Ray died as a toddler. Her sister Loretta also grew up in the park. Her mother was the first tour guide of the Adair Cabin. Carol attended Osawatomie schools and graduated high school in 1954. Carol married Charles Ayres, Jr., August 14, 1954 at the United Methodist Church in Paola. They made their home in Paola since their marriage. Their 60 plus year marriage resulted in three sons Bryan, Brad, and Bruce. The Ayres family is very close and have been active in the Paola United Methodist Church for 70 years. Carol was a member of the Paola Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi for over 60 years. She was a homemaker, worked in the school cafeteria, and was a custodian for her church for many years. Carol was an avid reader and had a deep Christian faith. She was interested in history and genealogy. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and spending time with family and friends.
