Carlos Alexander Garcia

Carlos Alexander Garcia was born on Monday, March 21, 1932, in Le Loup, Kansas. He was the son of Juan H. and Paula A. (Arias) Garcia. Carlos grew up in Le Loup, moving to Ottawa in 1943, where he made his home, until his death on Monday, December 12, 2005, at the age of seventy-three years. He attended Le Loup schools through the fifth grade and graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1951. Carlos served twenty years in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1972 as a Tech. Sergeant. He was an ammunition technician, assembling missiles and various types of bombs. He also worked in the ammunition dump. Carlos served in the Korean War and twice in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa. Carlos was a strong supporter of the United States military and was very proud of his career in the Air Force. He also deeply cared for his family and loved their family gatherings. He enjoyed caring for flowers and plants and especially liked sunflowers. He was a big collector of many things, which included postcards and plates. His postcards were mostly of skylines, and he had all types of plates. He is survived by two brothers, Encarnacion Garcia of El Paso, Texas, Albert Garcia of Topeka, Kansas; four sisters, Guadalupe Rios of Kansas City, Kansas, Esther Flores of Kansas City, Kansas, Enriqueta Soriano of Kansas City, Missouri, Aurora Ottinger of Atchison, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Natalie Martinez, Juanita Blanco, Amelia Garcia; and brother, Fernando Garcia. SERVICES: A Funeral Mass will be held from Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2005. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Garcia from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at Dengel & Son Mortuary, where a Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. followed by a family visitation at 7:30. CEMETERY: Mt. Calvary in Ottawa, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901 or Sacred Heart Catholic Church, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary 235 S.
