Carl E. Thompson age 79 of Paola passed away Wed. Nov.5th at his home. Funeral Services Sat. Nov. 8th, at 10:00 AM at the Penwell-Gabel Paola Chapel, visitation Fri. from 6 to 8, burial in the Whiteford Cemetery, contributions may be made to the American Cancer or the Olathe Hospice in care of the funeral home, 305 N. Pearl. To leave special condolences go to Penwell-Gabel.com Carl was born on Oct. 10, 1929 in Rosedale, Kansas, to Herbert and Myrtle Cook Thompson. He grew up in the Rosedale area of Kansas City, Kansas and attended Rosedale High School. On May 21, 1949, he was united in marriage to, Neomia Hester in South Park, Kansas. Carl and his wife lived in Overland Park, Kansas and in 1965 they became the parents to Bobbi Ann. In 1967 he and his wife moved to the Paola area. He farmed on the family farm and drove a truck for Safeway Grocery Stores from 1964 until retiring in 1992. He recently he was working for the Kansas City Star and the Miami County Republic, delivering newspapers throughout the County. Carl enjoyed going to auctions, working with horses, enjoyed the outdoors and working on the farm, and especially his two dogs Jake and Puddin. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, Elsa Foster, and June Parker. Surviving is his daughter, Bobbi Kershner of Dunnegan, MO., sister, Janette and husband Bud Byard, of Osawatomie, KS., sister Phoebe Bell of Rantoul, KS., four grandchildren, Nichole Goben, Darrel Tait, Brandon Tait, and Alisha Casper, five great grand children, Natalee, Braydon, Mathew, Isaac, and Trace. Carl will be greatly missed by family and friends.
