Carl J. Morgan Carl J. Morgan age 81 of Paola, passed away Saturday April 19 at the Olathe Medical Center. Services will be Friday April 25th at 10:30AM Visitation Thursday 6 to 8PM. Burial in the Somerset Cemtery. Memorials may be made to the Operation Holiday and or American Diabetes Association, to leave family condolences go to PenwellGabel.com. Carl was born August 6, 1926, to Charles and Jesse Smith Morgan. He was raised in the Somerset community where he attended school. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Force in 1943 and was discharged in 1947. On March 28, 1948 he was united in marriage to Betty Gentry in Drexel, Missouri. They made their home in Paola and later moved to the Somerset area. His employment included Westinghouse, Fogel-Anderson Construction Company, Mid-States Oil Company, and later started his own construction company where he laid water lines for Rural Water District #2 through out Miami County. He retired in 1992.He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Mission Valley Hunt Club, Miami County Civil Defense, Reserve Deputy Sheriff, and a Miami County Storm Spotter. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, gardening, traveling on motorcycles, playing cards, being outdoors, and attending his grandchildren"s activities. Carl is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Carla Jean, infant brothers Wayne and Jack, and his older brother Marvin. Survivors are his wife Betty of the home, daughter Lisa Coleman of Somerset, brother Ecle and wife Sharon Morgan of Somerset, sister Maxine Davis of Wisconsin, 4 grandchildren Angie, Morgan, DeeAnna, and Weston, four great-grandchildren Gage, Curtis, Preston, and Nathan.
