Captola Beauthon “Cap” Crabb, 86, died peacefully Sunday, November 24, 2013 surrounded by her children at the Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 9, 2013 at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church in Williamsburg, Kansas. A graveside inurnment service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2013 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence, Kansas. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Inurnment Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence, Kansas. Cap was born on April 10, 1927 in Alicia, Arkansas, the second child and only daughter to Clyde and Jennie Lucilla (Milligan) Smith. Captola graduated from Walnut Ridge High School in 1945. After graduation she relocated to Phoenix, Arizona with her family. She briefly lived in Dayton, Ohio after her marriage and then made her home in Williamsburg, Kansas. On December 30, 1948 Captola was united in marriage to Jeremiah Edward “Ed” Crabb V in Phoenix, Arizona. He preceded her in death in 2007. Survivors include a son, Jeremiah E. “Jerry” Crabb VI and his wife Vicki, Peoria, Illinois; two daughters, Donna S. Nyght and her husband, Ron, Shawnee, and Marianne Vilander and her husband, Randy, Topeka; two brothers, Clyde Smith and Joe Smith, both of Arizona; seven grandchildren, Grace (Conor) Mulcahy, John Dunlap, Caitlin Crabb, Hayley Crabb, Hillary Crabb, Rachael Vilander, and Brandon Vilander; step-grandchild, Rebecca (Jon) Gossman; two great grandchildren, Sean Edward Mulcahy and Eleanor Grace Mulcahy; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother, Bobbie L. Smith. She owned and operated Crabb’s Grocery and Service Station with her husband from 1951 to 1980. Captola was a member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church, UMW Circle, Williamsburg Lions Club, former 4-H leader and she was very active in the Williamsburg community. She was an accomplished seamstress and homemaker. She was very proud to be a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
