Calvin Bruce Welton

January 26, 1923 — February 24, 2001

He was born January 26, 1923 in Princeton, KS. Mr. Welton was a lifelong Franklin County resident, living in the Princeton and Rantoul communities. He moved to Ottawa in 1960 where he made his home until his death. Bruce graduated from Rantoul High School with the class of 1942. He attended Mount Hope Country School in southern Franklin County. On November 30, 1947 Bruce was united in marriage with Carol Morrow at the Ruhamah Baptist Church of Rantoul. She survives of their home. Mr. Welton was employed fifteen years by the City of Ottawa as a heavy equipment operator with the Street Department retiring in 1981. Bennett Creamery of Ottawa previously employed him for eight years. After his military enlistment he was a farmer and stockman on the Welton family farm near Princeton, Kansas. He was a member of Ruhamah Baptist Church at 2093 Texas Rd. He served on the Cutler Township board as Treasurer. Bruce was a veteran of WWII, serving as a Supply Sergeant in the United States Army`s 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, (Also Known as the Big Red One). He was in the European Theater seeing combat action in the Ardennes and Rhineland. Mr. Welton was cremated. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, February 28, 2001, from 7:00 PM to 8:00p PM at Dengel & Son Mortuary at 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS. Private family inurnment will be at Highland Cemetery Ottawa. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2001, at 10:30 AM at Dengel & Son Mortuary at 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS. Pastor Rick Dunn will be officiating. Military Honors by V.F.W. Post #5901 of Ottawa. Memorials can be sent to Ruhamah Baptist Church or Calvary Baptist Church c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary 235 S.
