Byron B. Shuck, 84, of Ottawa, Kansas died on Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Village West in Ottawa, Kansas. He was born on Wednesday, November 7, 1923, in Pleasant Grove, Kansas. He was the son of Oscar Byron and Mary Gertrude (Deay) Shuck. Byron lived in Douglas and Franklin Counties until moving to Idaho Springs, Colorado in 1969. He returned to Ottawa in 1973. Byron attended Baldwin High School. Byron was a farmer and mechanic most of his life and operated machinery for Franklin County four years, retiring in 1987. Following retirement, he managed storage units in Baldwin. He was a member of First Christian Church in Ottawa and a former member of the Ottawa Bowling Association. On September 19, 1942, Byron was united in marriage with Dorothy `Beth` Kring in Douglas County. She preceded him in death on April 7, 2006. Survivors include: Daughter-Dianna (Carey) Taylor & her husband, Bud, of Ottawa, Kan. Daughter-Katherine (Kistler) Smith of Olathe, Kan. Daughter-Carolyn White of Edgerton, Kan. Daughter-in-law-Dee Ann Shuck of Ottawa, Kan. Grandchildren-Fourteen Gt. Grandchildren-Eighteen Gt.Gt. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Shuck after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at Dengel & Son Mortuary to service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7:00 to 8:00 Wednesday evening.
