Burton Allen

Burton L. Allen, 83, Paola, passed away February 2, 2010 at his home. He was born November 27, 1926 in Paola, Kansas to Clyde and Bess Gobal Allen. Burton graduated from Paola High School and attended Kansas University for two years. In 1956 he was united in marriage to Frances Mcfie, they became the parents of one son. He went on to work at Panhandle Pipeline Company and later for IBM as a programmer, where he worked for 32 years, retiring at the age of 62. His work with IBM led him and his family to travel and live in various states, including New Jersey and Texas. He was an Army Veteran, having served during WWII. Burton enjoyed reading, model cars, movies, and traveling in his earlier years. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Craig, and wife Debbie of Paola, Kansas; two grandchildren, Tina Allen of Denver, Colorado, and Craig B. Allen of Paola, Kansas; and two great-grandchildren, Cloe Allen of Paola, Kansas, and Sophia Bailey of Denver, Colorado. All of whom will miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother, Greg Richard Allen. Cremation is planned with a private service at a later date.
