Bryan Patrick Simon was born on Monday, January 29, 1968, in Port Arthur, Texas. He was the son of Leon E. Simon and Janice E. Montgomery. Bryan was born and raised in Texas. He lived in Harrison, Arkansas several years, moving to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, seven years ago, where he made his home until his death at the age of forty years. Bryan graduated from Vidor (Texas) High School with the class of 1986. He attended Arkansas State University and Neosho County Community College in Ottawa. He was currently a student at Ottawa University majoring in elementary education. In addition to being a full-time student, he was manager and massage therapist at Capelli Salon & Day Spa in Ottawa. For several years, he was a mail carrier for the Ottawa Post Office. While living in Arkansas, he was night manager at the Harrison Post Office and past president of their local chapter of the American Postal Worker's Union. Bryan served in the United States Marine Corps and National Guard as a heavy duty operator during the Persian Gulf War. Bryan was an outgoing, caring person who was very complimentary to others. He loved spending time with his wife and the children in his life. He enjoyed his salt water tank and caring for several species of fish. He also loved the outdoors and enjoyed golfing and fishing. On July 31, 2005, Bryan was united in marriage with Francine Leone in Ottawa, Kansas. She survives of their home. He is also survived by his father, Leon E. Simon of Vidor, Texas; mother, Janice Montgomery of Woodville, Texas; biological father, William Settle of Kountze, Texas; two daughters, Ashton Simon, Brittney Simon, both of Ottawa; son, Colby Simon, of Ottawa; two stepsons, Cameron Carmack, Tristan Carmack, both of the home; brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Donna Simon of Magnolia, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Laurie and David Ellis of Palestine, Texas; and maternal grandmother, Mertice Montgomery of Woodville, Texas. SERVICES: Family and friends will meet at Dengel & Son Mortuary from 7 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday for visitation. IN STATE: Cremation is planned.
