Bruce Lynn Riley, 61, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023, at his home in Ottawa, Kansas.
He was born Tuesday, April 25, 1961, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Leslie Patrick and Pauline “Polly” Marie (Bickle) Riley.
Bruce grew up in Independence, Missouri and later moved to Chanute, Kansas, where he graduated with the Class of 1979, and was then united in marriage to Cindy Lou Toomey on September 21, 1985, they later divorced. Together they moved to Ottawa, Kansas, where he resided for thirty-four years. Together they had two children Season Bass and Jonathan Riley.
Bruce worked for Walmart Distribution Center in Ottawa, Kansas, for twenty-four years. Prior to working for Walmart, he was employed with Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) for approximately ten years.
He enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia especially the Chiefs (he was a huge Chiefs fan) and attending his grandkids sporting events. Bruce loved live music and attended nearly every rock concert he could.
Bruce was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline “Polly” Riley, brother, Jim Riley and sister Patricia Smith.
Survivors include his father, Leslie Riley (Doris Landis) of Gladstone, Missouri; daughter and son-in-law Season and Rodney Bass of Ottawa, Kansas; son and daughter-in-law Jonathan Riley and Kim Riley of Kansas City, Missouri; brother and sister-in-law, Karl and Carol Riley of Estero, Florida; sister and brother-in-law Ruth and Ralph Schofstall of Sedalia, Missouri; and five grandchildren Brennan Bass, Peyton Bass, Elijah Bass, Daisuke Riley and Kairi Riley; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Celebration of life services will be held 3:00 P.M., Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Hope Anthem Church in Ottawa.
