Brenda Kay Sheler, 49, of Ottawa, Kansas died Wednesday, September 25, 2013, after a long battle with liver disease. Family will meet with friends to celebrate Brenda’s life at Dengel & Son Mortuary from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013. Cremation is planned. A private inurnment will be held at a later date. Brenda was born on October 5, 1963 in Plainview, Texas. She was the daughter of Donald and Helen (Dunlap) Sheler. She was a lifelong Ottawa, Kansas resident, attending Ottawa High School. Survivors include her parents, Donald and Helen Sheler; two sisters, Mary Ann Vaughn of Millport, Alabama, and Ethel Brady and companion Allen Matile of Ottawa; two brothers, Dennis Sheler and wife Annette of Topeka, and Roy Dunlap and wife Judy of Ottawa; aunt, Maxine Mason of Columbia, Missouri; two nieces, Tiffany McCurdy and husband Noah, and Nicole Brady; nephew, Dakota Dunlap and wife Breeze; and many other nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorial contributions to Ottawa Retirement Village Activity Fund, Meals on Wheels, Mid-America Nutrition Program or Elizabeth Layton Center, New Beginnings c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
