Bonnie Jane Wood, age 83, of Paola, Kansas died August 14, 2015 at Life Care Center of Osawatomie. Bonnie was born January 16, 1932 in Marseilles, Illinois, the daughter of Rev. Frank E. and Rachel D. Funk. Bonnie attended several different grade schools in Kansas as her father Rev. Frank Funk relocated to serve at different churches. She graduated from Webb City High School, Webb City, Missouri. She then attended Joplin Jr. College and Pittsburg State University where she graduated in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She was united in marriage to John D. Wood on June 3, 1955 at First Presbyterian Church in Webb City, Missouri. She taught school and worked at the Paola Free Library for 20 years. After that she worked as a telenet monitor at the Adult Education Center in Paola. She was a member of Lighthouse Presbyterian Church in Paola where she took great enjoyment in leading a bible study group. Bonnie also enjoyed music, reading, and spending time with family. She was a very loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Mariners, Shamrock, and Ruritan clubs. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her sons Richard Wood (Sally) of Paola, KS and Robert Wood (Hazel) of La Cygne, KS; daughter Rebecca Winterscheid (Tony) of Paola, KS; 10 grandchildren; one great grandchild; and brother William Funk. Memorial contributions may be made to Lighthouse Presbyterian Church or the Ruritan National Foundation Educational Scholarship Fund.
