Bonnie Lee (Rowe) Roper Long, age 85, of Osawatomie, Kansas passed away on October 4, 2018 at Olathe Hospice House. Bonnie was born June 21, 1933 to Roland Vernon and Millie (Mounce) Rowe in Utica, Kansas. Bonnie attended high school in Blue Mound, Kansas and graduated in 1951. After graduation, she moved to Kansas City and worked as a telephone operator. She then met and married William “Bill” E. Roper in December 1955. They made their home in Paola, Kansas where they raised three children. She was preceded in death by Bill in November 1997. Throughout their marriage, Bonnie and Bill enjoyed camping, fishing, and vacations to the Ozarks. Bonnie and Bill enjoyed spending time with family and being grandparents to their four grandchildren. Following her husband’s death, Bonnie met and married Robert Long of Clinton, Missouri. Bonnie and Robert made their home in Clinton until his passing in 2014. Robert and Bonnie belonged to scooter and camping clubs. They enjoyed geocaching and had many travels together. Bonnie held many jobs throughout her life including working for the Paola School District in the food service department. She retired from King Radio in 1995. Bonnie was also a Foster Grandparent for Miami County from 1998 until 2002. Bonnie spent most of her life as a homemaker and the one job that she cherished the most was being a mom. Bonnie loved nothing more than spending time with her family. The Rowe family reunions with her three brothers and their families were something Bonnie always enjoyed and looked forward to. Bonnie was a member of the Pearl Street Baptist Church and later the First Baptist Church of Clinton, Missouri. Bonnie is survived by brothers Jerry (Rosalie) Rowe of Iola, Kansas. Vernon (Margie) Rowe of Pleasanton, Kansas, and Donald (Betty Lou) Rowe of Grandview, Missouri; children Vickie Weber of Osawatomie, Kansas, Mike Roper of Paola, Kansas, and Debbie (Chris) Soph of Hollister, Missouri; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
