Bonnie Lou (Taylor) Close, 82, of Ottawa, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Family will meet with friends from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., Friday, March 8th, at the mortuary. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Bonnie was born on August 20, 1936, in Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of Elvin Thedora and Mary Jane (Hubbard) Taylor. She lived in Ottawa off and on since November 19, 1944; living in Iowa from 1956 until 1960; in Idaho from 1972 until 1975; moving in 1991 to Carrolton, Texas and back to Ottawa in September of 2003. Bonnie earned her General Education Development Diploma. Bonnie was united in marriage to William J. Close, Sr. on April 10, 1955 at Wellsville, Kansas. He preceded her in death on April 12, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Mary Taylor; brothers, Merle Taylor and Cloyde Taylor; sisters, Viola Riemer, Velma Sheler and Mary Alice Wolter, and two nephews. She is survived by son, William J. “Bill” Close, Jr. and wife Lee of Dallas, TX and daughter, Tammy Johnson and husband Kenny of Ottawa, KS; brother, Doyle Taylor and wife Peg of OR; sister, Penit Green of KY; and four granddaughters, Tatia Close of Edmond, OK, Talor Close of Dallas, TX, Adysen Johnson of Ottawa, KS and Jennifer Blanton and husband Tim also of Ottawa, KS. Bonnie worked six years as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Cox Medical Center in Springfield, MO; Burley Hospital in Idaho and Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa; ten years as a home health aide and WIC clerk for the Franklin County Health Department; and retired after ten years in management and labor for Carrolton/Farmer Branch Texas Food Service in Carrolton, TX School District 290. After returning to Ottawa, she became manager for Ed and Peggy White, Sonshine Property and for Dwane Richardson of Richardson Real Estate for ten years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Memorial Post #5901, both in Ottawa.
