Bonita J. “Bonnie” Harber, 81, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023, peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.

A sung Requiem Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the Church of St. Rose Philippine Duchesne, 5035 Rainbow Blvd., Westwood, Kansas.

Rosary will be said at 5:30 pm, November 3, 2023, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa, with a visitation to follow at 6:00 pm.

Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ottawa, will be held at 2:30 pm, Saturday.

Bonnie was born Saturday, August 8, 1942, in Concordia, Kansas, the daughter of Ralph and Lillian (Johanek) Jackson.

She was an Ottawa resident since 1977.

Bonnie graduated from Goodland High School in Goodland, Kansas, with the class of 1959. In 1960, she graduated from The Northwest Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

She was united in marriage to Giles E. “Gus” Harber in Kansas City Kansas. He preceded her in death on October 19, 2017.

Bonnie was employed as a medical technologist for over forty years working for Physicians Reference Laboratory in Overland Park, Kansas for twenty-eight years.

She was a member of the Church of St. Rose Philippine Duchesne and a former member of the Sacred Heart Church, Ottawa. Bonnie was also a former member of the American Technologist Association.

Bonnie enjoyed singing in the church choir, church functions, and traveling. She especially loved spending time with kids, grandkids, and family.

She was preceded in death by husband Gus and parents Ralph and Lillian.

Survivors include children Giles D. Harber of Ottawa, Nathan (Jill) Harber of Lawrence, Kansas, Kelli Edell of Houston, Texas, Lori Krafft of Ottawa, and Nicol (Randy) Bruner of Hesston; sister Karen Harrison of Minneapolis, Minnesota; brother John (Kim) Jackson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and two grandchildren Bryce Bruner of Hutchinson, and Brayden Bruner of Hesston.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Church of St. Rose Philippine Duchesne c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
