Blanche Lucille Pinet was born November 13, 1909, on the Pitney ranch, north of Belvue, Kansas, in Potowatomie County. She grew up in Wamego, Kansas and lived in Ottawa from 1939 until 1947. She also lived in Concordia, Lawrence and Emporia before moving to Ottawa in 1958, where she made her home until her death Saturday, January 5, 2002, at the age of ninety-two years. Blanche graduated from Wamego High School with the class of 1927. She attended Washburn University in Topeka and graduated from Ottawa University in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Blanche was an elementary school teacher for twenty-six years, teaching in the towns where they lived during her husband's years with Allis-Chalmers. She taught in the Ottawa School District #290 for over twenty-five years, retiring in 1974. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church of Ottawa, Delta Gamma Sorority at Washburn University in Topeka, AUPEO-Ottawa Chapter, Franklin County Republican Women, Beta Gamma of Ottawa, and Union Chapter #15, Order of the Eastern Star of Ottawa, receiving her fifty-year pin in May of 1997. Blanche enjoyed tutoring children and visiting with people. She also enjoyed gardening and tole painting. She was very interested in genealogy and loved sharing old family pictures and memories of her family. On May 26, 1933, Blanche was united in marriage with Robert L. Pinet at Topeka, Kansas. He preceded her in death March 19, 1973. Also, preceding her in death are her parents; son, Robert L. Pinet; two sisters, Mary Geery, Grace Geery; and six brothers, Walter Pitney, II, Raymond Pitney, Jerome Pitney, Fred Pitney, Russell Pitney, and Floyd Pitney. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Crandall and her husband, Jack, of Hungry Horse, Montana; two grandsons, Rob Pinet and his wife, Kelly, of Ottawa, Jon Crandall and his wife, Sandy, of Columbia Falls, Montana; three granddaughters, Kim Smith and her husband, Bruce, of Ottawa, Melinda Lorens and her husband, E. G. of Grand Lake, Colorado, Kristin Bloomgren and her husband, George, of Grand Lake, Colorado; great-granddaughter, Victoria Bloomgren; and, great-grandson, Colton Crandall. Services: Memorial services will be held from Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2002. Officiating Clergy: The Reverend Denis Ford. In State: Friends may call at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 9:00 AM Wednesday to service hour where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 Wednesday evening.
