Billie D. “Bill” Curry, 86, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017, at Baldwin Healthcare & Rehabilitation. Cremation is planned. Family will meet with friends from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Ottawa Church of the Nazarene, 7th and south Elm Street. Memorial service will immediately follow at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 2, 2017, at the church. Private inurnment will take place later at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa. Bill was born Monday, June 8, 1931, in Ottawa, the son of James M. and Mary Lois (Dow) Curry. He was a lifelong Ottawa resident. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1947 and attended two years at Ottawa University. Bill was united in marriage to Donna Pauline Shannon August 24, 1950, at Harrisonville, Missouri. She survives of their home. Other survivors include his eleven children, Richard Curry and wife Ann, Kathy Floyd, Steven Curry and wife Carolyn, Sally Matthew, Marion Wellman, Don Curry and wife Rhonda, Rae Gabriel and husband Tom, David Curry and wife Angela, Shawn Curry and wife Anita, Jeff Curry, and Wendy Curry; sister, Nancy Curry; thirty-one grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and numerous foster children. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Curry; eleven-year-old son, Robert Eugene Curry; brother, James Curry; son-in-law, Miles Floyd; and mother and father-in law, Paul and Ruth Shannon. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, and served as Scout Master of the Boy Scouts. Bill worked twenty-eight years for Bennett’s Creamery and twenty-five years for Town & Country Supply, retiring in 1993, only working these two jobs his entire life.
