Bill R. Phillips, age 70, was born (sunrise) Feb. 17, 1939 and died (sunset) April 12, 2009 at Linn County, Ks. He was born, one of 14 children, in Pittsburg, KS, the son of Bert & Bertha Hackworth Phillips. He was united in marriage to Arnola Woods Phillips on Oct. 3, 1960 in Kansas City, MO. Bill retired from Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company in 1994. He was baptized Episcopalian. His hobbies consisted of coin collecting and he was an avid golfer and fisherman and always enjoyed giving advice on both. He and his wife of 48 years have enjoyed traveling the United States for the last 12 years. "He was born a simple man." Preceding him in death are his parents, 4 brothers, 2 sisters and 1 grand daughter. Survivors include his wife, Arnola, of the home; 3 daughters, Janell Hook and husband David, Ellis, Ks.; Elayna Yeager & husband Harry, Louisburg, Ks.; & Billie Phillips, Cudahy,Wisconsin and 1 son, James Phillips, Spring Hill, Ks.; raised 1 granddaughter, Elizabeth Maike, married to Scott, from Pittsburg, Ks.; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and a special nephew, Donald Phillips, Jr. & wife Tammy, Pittsburg, Ks.; 4 sisters, Judy McCabe, Reba Phillips, Lola Ohme and Kathy Phillips and 3 brothers, Phillip Phillips, Gayle Phillips and David Phillips, that the family is blessed with. Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2009, at Penwell-Gabel Louisburg Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association.
