Bill Baker, 77 of Paola, Ks passed away Feb. 14, 2007. Bill was born March 8, 1930 in Society Hill, SC. to John B. and Nancy K. Gaddy Baker. Bill Graduated from the Wadesboro, NC. High school and entered the US Navy in 1947. He was united in marriage to his wife of 25 years, Donna Turley Baker on August 7, 1982. In 1983 he built his home and moved his family to the Paola area. And after 54 yrs in the asphalt paving business he started CAPCO Inc. in 1986. Bill was an active member of his church, the Faith Baptist church. He was a Paola American Legion member and in past years an avid bowler. He was a devoted family man, who enjoyed reading, going out to dinners and movies, and the company of his dog, Walker. Bill never knew a stranger and will be forever missed by his family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and by and infant daughter, Sheila Joyce Baker. Bill is survived by his wife Donna Baker of the home, by his children; Janice Spry, of Detona, Fl., Richard Baker, of Naples, Fl., Deborah Davenport, of Graham NC, Bruce Baker of Lenexa, Ks, Phillip Baker of Las Cruces, NM., Tina JoAnn Whitney of Naples, Fl., Mark Baker of Paola, Ks and Ross Baker of Olathe, Ks. And by his step children; Terry Courian of San Diego, CA., and John Baker of Florida. He is also survived by his brothers; Bertice Baker of Hickory, Kentucky, Bryant Baker of Indian Trails, NC, and Ben Baker of Cary, NC. And by his sister, Betty Scott of Hillsboro, NC.
