Beverly Nuessen

Beverly Corrine Nuessen, age 58, of rural Paola, Kansas, died Friday, June 28, 2013 at North Point Skilled Nursing Center, Paola, Kansas. Bev was born February 11, 1955 at Hutchinson, Kansas. She was the youngest of six children born to Merle and Ann Ellen (Meyers ) Wood. Bev grew up in Virginia. Her family moved to Olathe in 1972. She graduated from Olathe High School with the Class of 1973. Bev was united in marriage to Richard "Dick" Nuessen on September 17, 1977 at Olathe, Kansas. They made their home in Olathe until moving rural Paola and became the parents of three children. They have lived in Paola for 22 years, having made their home there in 1991. Bev was a true mom in every sense of the word. She wasn"t just a mother to the three children she gave birth to, there were a bunch of kids who knew her as "mom". She was always there cheering on her kids at their youth rodeo competitions. She was their biggest fan. She loved horses which gave reason to her lifetime membership with the American Quarter Horse Association. She also enjoyed watching her grandsons play soccer. Bev was a member of the St. Philip Neri Church in Osawatomie. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one brother. She is survived by her husband Dick of the home; her father and mother-in-law Edward and Lola Nuessen of Olathe; two sons Rick and his wife April of Fontana, Kansas and Rodney and his wife Amy of Osawatomie; her daughter Rebecca Nuessen of the home; two grandsons Wyatt and Lane Nuessen; one sister; two brothers; and many other relatives and friends.
