Beulah Irene Mccurdy

Beulah Irene McCurdy was born Tuesday, June 7, 1904, in Elk County, near Elk Falls, Kansas. She was the daughter of Frank and Nancy (Cunningham) Richeson. Beulah lived with her family in Idaho for about two years, and Oklahoma. In 1915, they moved to the Williamsburg, Kansas area, where she made her home, until her death Monday, January 9, 2006, at the age of 101 years. Beulah graduated from Williamsburg High School with the class of 1924. She worked as an operator for the telephone company in Williamsburg from 1922 until 1930 and again from the mid 1930's until the office was closed. She later worked in her brother's tax office in Ottawa for quite a few years. She was a member of Sadana Chapter #194, Order of the Eastern Star, in Williamsburg. Beulah was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who greatly enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed visiting with her many friends at the Senior Center. On April 28, 1928, Beulah was united in marriage with Floyd Frank McCurdy in Lyndon, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1970. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Anthony Clinton 'Doc' Richeson. Mrs. McCurdy is survived by her son, Leslie C. McCurdy of Kansas City, Kansas; granddaughter, Shelley DeGrande of Gardner, Kansas; grandson, Craig McCurdy of Dallas, Texas; three great-grandsons, Alex DeGrande, Ben DeGrande, Loarn Hinkle; one great-granddaughter, Nikki McCurdy; two nephews, David Richeson, Bill Richeson; and two nieces, Nancy Leahew and Mary Thomas. SERVICES: Graveside services will be held from Mt. Hope Cemetery in Williamsburg, Kansas, 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2006. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. McCurdy at Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Wednesday evening.
