Betty Jo White was born on Friday, August 19, 1932 in Elizabeth, Louisiana to Rufus Jhue and Minnie Maude (Turner) Smith. During her lifetime Betty had lived in Florida, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New Jersey, Ohio, and Louisiana. She had been a resident of Quenemo from 1973 before moving to Pomona in 1995 where she made her home until her death on July 18, 2006 at the age of seventy-three years. Betty attended school in Tioga, Louisiana, and graduated from West High School in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1950. She graduated from Flint Hills Technical College in Emporia, Kansas, with an LPN degree. She was in healthcare twenty-eight years, employed as an LPN at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa. Prior to her nursing career, she was employed by United Airlines in Cleveland, Ohio, as a reservationist. Betty enjoyed her years in nursing. Her call in life was to attend and help people in their time of need and she filled that call with the greatest concern and devotion. She attended Pomona Assembly of God Church. Survivors include one daughter, Kim White of Pomona, Kansas; son, Kevin White of Rapid City, South Dakota; two sisters, Rebecca Pitcock of St. Charles, Minnesota, Elsie Harmondy of Cleveland Ohio; and two grandchildren, Kyle White of Pomona and Jordan White of Rapid City. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Kathleen Gelencher. SERVICES: Graveside services and interment will be held at Elizabeth, Louisiana on Friday July 21,2006. Local memorial services will be held at the Pomona Assembly of God Church at 6:00p.m. on Thursday July, 27th, 2006. CEMETERY: Turner Cemetery, Elizabeth, Louisiana.
