On December 3, 2022, Betty Wendelburg Minnick of Ottawa, Kansas passed away at the age of 94. Betty was born March 25, 1928, on the family farm north of Stafford, Kansas to Henry and Anna Wendelburg. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Jerome A. Minnick who died in 2019, her parents, brothers Edwin, Albert, and Bob Wendelburg and sisters Norma Wendelburg and Annabell Zeigler. She is survived by her daughters Ann Moore of Denver, Colorado, and Susan Arbuthnot (Bob) of Belleville, Kansas; her son John Minnick of Ottawa, Kansas; as well as seven grandchildren Margaret Moore (Travis), Quentin Moore (Karen), Jonathan Moore, Sarah Lendt (Brian), James Arbuthnot (Jen), Daniel Arbuthnot, Matthew Minnick (Lindsey) and eight great grandchildren.
Married for more than 70 years, Betty and her husband Jerome lived the majority of their adult lives in Ottawa where they were active members of the community as well as the First Baptist Church. Betty enjoyed gardening, reading, Bible study, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a P.E.O. Golden Girl and a longtime volunteer at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa.
Always a champion for education, Betty bequeathed her remains to KU Medical Center to support medical education and research.
A memorial service will be held Friday, December 16, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 410 S. Hickory Street, Ottawa, KS 66067, preceded by visitation in the church Parlor at 10 a.m.
