Betty Ilene Watts, age 82, of Paola, Kansas, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at her home. Betty was born April 14, 1931 at Arlington, Colorado. She was one of six children born to Harry and Willa (Ryan) Griswould. Betty graduated from Ordway High School in Colorado. On June 24, 1949, she was united in marriage to Gene Watts. They made their home in Colorado and became the parents of five children. Betty worked part-time as an office assistant for Dr. John McDonough in Colorado for several years but her main occupation was wife and mother. Santa Fe Railroad transferred Gene to Kansas City and the family moved to Shawnee, Kansas in 1970. In 1990, they moved to Paola, Kansas. She enjoyed reading and embroidering. But most of all, Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene who died on October 21, 2002, her parents, three brothers Harold, Roy, and Ray Griswould, one sister Pathena Watts, and one grandson, William Watts. She is survived by her five children Roy Watts and his wife Sandy of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Neal Watts and his wife Carol of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, John Watts and his wife Natalie of Paola, Gina Harvey and her husband Mark of Linn Valley, Kansas, and Scott Watts of Kearney, Missouri; one brother Floyd Griswould and his wife Phyllis of Limon, Colorado; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date in the Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, Colorado. Memorials are to My Father"s House or Olathe Hospice and can be sent in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 605 O"Neal Ave., P. O.
