Betty Ostrander

Betty Ostrander passed away peacefully on May 24, 2024, at North Point Skilled Nursing Home in Paola, KS.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 1:00 PM with the Funeral Services following at 2:00 PM at the Dengel & Son Mortuary-Paola Chapel. Burial will take place at Paola Cemetery.

She was born on September 8, 1928, in Weatherby, MO, to Clyde and Pearl (Wiglesworth) Browning. She was one of six children born to Clyde and Pearl.

Betty married John Johann in 1945 in Paola. They had six children together. The marriage would later end in divorce. She would then go on to marry Charles Ostrander on April 15, 1964, in Olathe, until his passing in February of 1976. It was then that she met the love of her life, Orville George Barnes in 1978. They would remain together until his death in 2003.

She is preceded in death by her parents, three sons, Dale Johann, Larry Johann, and Floyd Johann, two granddaughters, Sarah Sipe Miller and Amy Johann, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Betty is survived by three children, Carol Tundo of Maryland, John Johann of Paola, and Kathie Spry of Paola. She is also survived by brother, Jim Browning of Hillsdale and sister, Roberta Town of Somerset, fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to go towards Betty’s funeral expenses c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary-Paola Chapel 305 N. Pearl St. Paola, KS 66071.
