Betty Lynette Feldman, age 83, of New Lancaster, KS, passed away October15, 2009, at the Louisburg Care Center after a long battle of Diffuse Lewy Bodies Disease. To leave a special message for family please go to penwellgabelpaola.com Betty was born on April 27, 1926, in Muskogee, OK, to William Herbert and Otto Elizabeth Ashworth Hurd. During WWII, she worked for the Hawthorn Nevada Navy Amunition Plant . On June 15, 1947, she was united in marriage to Louis Feldman in Muskogee, OK. Together they had five daughters. Betty enjoyed gardening, cooking, helping her husband on the family farm, and sewing, especially when she made and modeled her clothing in Kansas City at farm shows with her daughters. She also enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting deer and wild turkeys and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a former Hawkeye School Board member and 4H leader. She was a member of the Fontana Church of Christ. Betty is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Billy Ray, Benny Eugene, Jerry Lee; and one sister, Peggy Willis. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. Survivors are her husband of 62 years, Louis of the home; daughter, Carolyn and husband Larry Harding of Louisburg; daughter, Nancy and husband John Heidrick of La Cygne; daughter, Doris and husband Jack Williamson of Meadville, MO; daughter, Patty and husband Mike Yocam of Paola, daughter, Debra Smotherman of Overland Park, KS; one brother, William Herbert Hurd II of Claremore, OK; ten grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
