Betty L. Ewing was born on Friday, November 7, 1930, in Topeka, Kansas. She was the daughter of Effie Gregg. Betty lived in several locations, moving with her husband's military career. In 1988, she moved from Tomah, Wisconsin, where she had lived eleven years, to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, where she made her home, until her death Tuesday, November 29, 2005, at the age of seventy-five years. She was a homemaker. She was also a tax preparer for H & R Block in Tomah, Wisconsin. She was a member of West 15th Street Church of Christ in Ottawa, and former member of Ottawa Women's Bowling Association. Betty dearly loved her family and enjoyed her grandchildren so much. They were the light of her life. She enjoyed bowling for many years and traveling. She also enjoyed watching T.V., especially, mystery movies and Wheel of Fortune. In 1951, Betty was united in marriage with George Ewing. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1982. She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert Ewing; two sisters, Nellie Pfannensteil, Minnie 'Alice' Martin; and, grandson, Derek Markley. Mrs. Ewing is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and David Markley of Ottawa, Kansas; three sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Sandy Burgoon of Minnesota City, Minnesota, Tom and Jeanette Ewing of Tomah, Wisconsin, Greg and Mary Ewing of Prattville, Alabama; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Roseann Gregg of Sun City, Arizona; two sisters, Flossie Blair of Ottawa, Kansas, Marie Bayless of Carbondale, Kansas; seven grandchildren; and, four great-grandchildren. SERVICES: Memorial services will be held from W. 15th Church of Christ in Ottawa at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2005. IN STATE: Mrs. Ewing has been cremated. Family will meet with friends at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the Church for visitation prior to the service. CEMETERY: Inurnment will be at a later date in Tomah, Wisconsin.
